Borders & Dialogue

The following expert at the Broumov workshop will be Antoni Matuszkiewicz – again, if we are lucky enough to have him in the context of the epidemiological situation. This Polish-born poet was born on 13 August 1945 in Lviv, but in 1946 he left with his parents for Olesno in Poland and then to Świdnica (in Czech, Svídnice). He studied history at the University of Wrocław (Uniwersytet Wrocławski) and subsequently worked at the Municipal Library in Świdnica. In 1976 he completed his postgraduate studies at the Jagiellonian University in Kraków. In addition to his work, he also came into contact with the Polish anti-communist movement Solidarity, which earned him two years of internment in detention facilities. He currently lives and works in Martínkovice near Broumov. He is the author of the poetry collections “Poems about the Earth and the Sky” (Kłodzko: Kłodzkie Towarzystwo Oświatowe, 2017) and “Above Me the Deep Sky” (Broumov: Město Broumov, 2009).
