The Papacy and the Church in the Postmodern Era

Professor Tomáš Petráček’s new book, Christianity in the Vortex of Cultural Wars: The Papacy, Values, Identity, outlines several key topics for understanding the current position, attitudes, and conflicts of the Catholic Church in both a global and Czech context. The book focuses on the question of values, which the Church has become very attached to in the (post)modern era. It also offers a detailed insight into the development of the papacy in the 21st century and the changes in the Czech Church after 1989. Finally, it discusses the main challenges for the future development of the Church and its activities in the context of a divided society, including the option of post-institutional Christianity.
